Imagine being pulled over even though you did nothing wrong! What would be your first thought? Usually, when we see a police car and a waving officer, we immediately think the worst. Are the headlights not working, did we exceed the speed limit? What could it be?

When it comes to International Women’s Day, police officers in Lithuania are in on a secret, as an organization. They stop female drivers on this special day, all across the country. But not to give them a ticket, only to surprise them with a beautiful flower! What a pleasant and sweet way of honoring women, right?

This tradition is upheld in most of Lithuania’s cities and small towns, such as Kaunas and Vilnius. The hardworking officers love to document and share the happy, smiling faces of all the women they end up presenting with a tulip – the police have their own Facebook page, too!

Every generation appreciates this gesture, according to the images. From young girls to elderly ladies, receiving this thoughtful present is sure to brighten the day, especially in cold winter times and an otherwise stressful driving experience due to snowy, icy roads. Take your time to look through these pictures the police were kind enough to share!
