The Other Passengers Wouldn’t Take It
Everybody else on the train was shocked by the kid’s rudeness and audacity. A couple of passengers even politely asked for one of the seats his legs were taking up. To everyone’s astonishment, the kid unrelentingly refused to move. Instead, he completely indulged in his smartphone, probably playing games or watching something.
He seemed perfectly unaware of how uncomfortable the other passengers began to feel, both physically and mentally. After he refused to give up the what-would-be-empty seats, the boy completely disregarded those who stood around him. He was so busy staring at his smartphone that he didn’t pay much attention to anyone else. Even if he noticed how shocked and offended the other passengers were, he didn’t even bother to show it.
Everything this boy cared about was already in his hands. In his little virtual reality, he was probably saving the world or something (oh, the irony). The boy was making the best of a dull train ride without a guilty conscience, or so it seemed. Otherwise, he would’ve freed the seats for the tired passengers who kindly asked for them.
But this kid wasn’t the only one who knew nothing about empathy. By the looks of it, his mother was even worse. She showed no interest whatsoever in what was going on right in front of her. The woman seemed like her son’s rude behavior didn’t bother her at all.
Instead, she was enjoying her train ride, too. Comfortably seated with her son leaning against her shoulder, she appeared to be having a great time. Wearing a shirt that, quite ironically, said: “MOM,” the woman peacefully listened to music. Her headphones and wide sunglasses showed just how little she wanted to know what was happening around her.
